The 1mL Unitract Insulin Syringe is designed for the injection of 100 units (1mL) of insulin. The Insulin Syringe is a design variant of the Unitract Safe Syringe, utilizing the same core components, and can be assembled in parallel. The core differentiating feature of the Insulin Syringe, as opposed to the Safe Syringe, is the full mobility of the plunger during all stages of the injection process. The product offers the following benefits to people with diabetes who inject insulin with a syringe:
- Operators can safely control the speed of Automatic needle retraction directly from the body to minimize tissue damage
- The syringe ensures single-use, to discourage the reuse of non-sterile products with potentially blunted or damaged needle tips
- Both the syringe operator, and those around them, are protected from the risk of infection via potential transmission modes such as needlestick injuries and blood splatter
